W.I.M (Widows In Ministry)

Mission Statement:
To minister to widows during grief as they face problems for which they are unprepared.

Objective:
To be available at the time when widows have the most demands and the least ability to deal with them.

Scripture:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths.” Proverbs 3:5

Schedule:  
Monthly meetings are held on the second Thursday from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Florida Boulevard Baptist Church . Each December, a special Christmas banquet is held which includes speakers and entertainment.

W.I.M. is an organized ministry dedicated to helping widows cope with the demands of this difficult experience.

Our meetings are open to all current widows of our community, regardless of  church affiliation, with guest speakers who present valuable information for everyone who attends. Topics include coping skills, personal development, positive goals for the future, etc.

We are not a social organization or a support group. Our purpose is to help new widows, hoping that in turn they will be challenged to help other widows. We have prepared an effective resource packet which is presented to new widows on our first visit.  Also, W.I.M. has a referral list for counselors, attorneys, financial advisors and chaplains, and a bibliography of recommended books on moving forward positively through the grief experience.
